Tessellation-based stochastic modelling of 3D coating structures imaged with FIB-SEM tomography

To facilitate printing, coatings are typically applied to paperboard used for packaging provide a good surface application. optimise the performance of coating, it is important understand relationship between microstructure material and its mass transport properties. In this work, three samples coating imaged using combined focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM) tomography data appropriately segmented characterise internal microstructure. These images inform parametric, tessellation-based stochastic three-dimensional model intended mimic irregular geometry particles that can be seen in coating. Parameters estimated from FIB-SEM image data, we demonstrate agreement real virtual structures both terms geometrical measures The development facilitates exploration structure
